Our summer of impacts.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As the summer draws to a close, we at HCEB are reflecting on a season of continued growth and community support. Our mission to create inclusive communities for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs through quality affordable housing and unhoused interventions remains at the heart of everything we do.
This summer, we were incredibly busy, and we are so grateful for everyone who joined us in our efforts to create a more equitable East Bay.

Opportunity Village in Antioch

Date: August 14, 2025  Location: Opportunity Village

Opportunity Village provides homes for folks who stayed in the Sunset and DevPar Encampment.  Our guests receive interim housing where they can heal their body and souls, connect to supports, and identify their next step to permanent housing. The Sunset and DevPar folks will brought their partners, pets, and possessions, and receive hot meals, pet supplies, and fresh clothing.

HCEB will run the facility, provide the meals and make sure the program is secure and well maintained.  CORE has been active and engaged with everyone at the encampment and has followed them to Opportunity Village to provide continuity and familiarity.  Hope Solutions works closely with everyone here, bringing Housing Navigation and access and referral to additional critical services to pave the way to permanent housing.

Wood Street Commons BBQ Party

Date: August 29, 2025  Location: Mandela House

In August, we had a fantastic time at the Wood Street Commons BBQ Party! It was a day filled with community fun. We were thrilled to see so many people come together to share a meal, exchange clothes, and connect with neighbors about harm reduction supplies. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success.

In loving memory of Clinton Martin

March 4 1973 - July 26 2025

Clinton was a Program Manager at 71st RVSP, a safe parking site for recreational vehicles and trailers in the City of Oakland.

Our deepest condolences go out to Clinton’s wife, Rachel, who is also part of our HCEB family. Clinton’s kindness, commitment and unwavering belief in the dignity of those we serve will not be forgotten.
He will truly be missed.
